The AA has expanded its driving school tuition fleet with new manufacturers, models and engine types, reflecting the changing face of UK motoring.

Franchised instructors now have a choice of more than 20 vehicles

It’s added four new brands, along with 15 new vehicles, to the list available for driving instructors across both its AA Driving School and BSM brands. Two new electric and two new hybrid options also debut.

Franchised AA and BSM instructors can now choose from four electric vehicles, two hybrids and 20 petrol engines, five of which are automatics. Different specifications of models are also now available to expand choice.

New OEMs on the list include Citroën, Dacia, Renault and VW – a first in the AA Driving School’s 31-year-history. Ford, which has been a fleet partner of the driving school since 1998, will remain on the fleet with the Puma and Focus.

The AA had already updated the driving school fleet last year, adding the first EVs in the form of the Peugeot e-208 and e-2008 and the Vauxhall Corsa-e.

Camilla Benitz, who joined as managing director of the AA Driving School in November 2022, said the latest expansion of the fleet was based on clear feedback from instructors, which showed they valued greater choice of make, model and specification.

“Increasing our fleet range across all engine types gives instructors, and their pupils, the opportunity choose the vehicle which is right for them.

“The new additions have been road-tested by instructors over the last few months to make sure they are great tuition vehicles.

“Teaching the next generation to drive is an important and rewarding career. We are fully committed to ensuring instructors are set up to deliver the best service possible for their pupils.”
