As with other models such as the Polo and Golf, the BlueMotion Technology label is used to denote the cleanest and most fuel efficient versions of the Scirocco and Passat CC.

In the case of the Scirocco, all entry-level and GT trim models with the 2.0-litre 140 PS engine now feature BlueMotion Technology modifications including Stop/Start and battery regeneration systems. The models, available with a six-speed manual or optional six-speed DSG gearbox, feature increased fuel economy, improved from 55.4mpg to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle (51.4 to 57.6 DSG), and lower emissions, down from 134g/km to 118g/km (145 to 129 DSG).

Volkswagen has also revised the 2.0-litre TDI 170bhp engine fitted to the Scirocco GT, leading to an improvement in fuel economy figures to 55.4mpg from 53.3mpg (50.4 to 51.4 DSG) and CO2 emissions reducing from 139 to 134g/km (147 to 144 for DSG).

BlueMotion Technology models also join the Passat CC line-up, replacing the existing diesel versions and featuring regenerative braking and Start/Stop systems. These revisions help the 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS Passat CC models achieve a combined 60.1mpg, up from 50.4, while CO2 emissions are cut to 125g/km, down from 146g/km. The more powerful 170bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine in the range also gains improved figures, with economy up to 57.6mpg (51.4 DSG) and emissions down to 129g/km (144 DSG).

The Scirocco and Passat CC BlueMotion Technology models are available to order now.
