On sale now and priced from £15,595, the latest Picanto bears a majorly revamped exterior that borrows heavily from the brand’s EV9 flagship and other latest models.

Inside, the enhanced third-gen model offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen navigation and multiple USB charging ports – all as standard across the line-up.

Engines span two options: a three-cylinder 62hp 1.0-litre or a four-cylinder 77hp 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both deliver lower CO2 emissions than the outgoing model and come with a five-speed manual transmission as standard. An optional five-speed automated manual transmission is available for a £700 uplift.

The trim line-up uses Kia’s familiar four-tier structure, with ‘2’, ‘GT-Line’, ‘3’ and ‘GT-Line S’ variants.

In the UK, the 1.0-litre engine is available on the 2, GT-Line and 3 grades. The 1.2-litre engine is available exclusively on GT-Line S models.

Standard features across all grades include electric front and rear windows, automatic headlight control, rain-sensing front wipers, air con, and the 8-inch touchscreen navigation and 4.2-inch driver display screen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connection and free seven-year Kia Connect.

Safety equipment as standard delivers rear parking sensors and reversing camera system; forward collision avoidance assist with city, pedestrian, cyclist functions; lane keep assist and lane follow assist; cruise control; intelligent speed limit assist and speed limiter; rear occupant alert, and anti-lock braking system with emergency stop signalling.

All variants also come with Kia’s seven-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard.

The entry-level 2 grade also comes with 14-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and black cloth seat upholstery.

The GT-Line, which is priced from £16,745, upgrades this with enhanced sporty design cues, including 16-inch alloy wheels with ‘GT-Line’ styling, and also gets LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights, plus electrically adjustable, heated and folding door mirrors with LED indicators. The interior switches up to alloy pedals and GT-Line details and gains black cloth and artificial grey leather upholstery and an electric one-touch driver’s front window.

Picanto 3 versions, priced from £17,545, add in extra kit such as heated front seats and steering wheel, automatic air con, start/stop button with smart entry system, wireless mobile phone charger and smart key with motion sensor.

At the top of the model line-up, the GT-Line S is available exclusively with the more powerful petrol engine. It’s priced from £18,445 and gets many of the design features seen on GT-Line variants along with customisable ambient lighting, enhanced forward collision avoidance assist and blind-spot collision avoidance assist.

The Picanto is Kia’s fourth most popular car in the UK after the Sportage, Niro and Ceed model families. In 2023, it accounted for more than a fifth (22.1%) of all A-segment cars sold in the UK.

Deliveries of the revamped Picanto start from mid-July onwards.
