Year-long car club trial launches in Oxfordshire

Hiyacar has launched a 12-month car club trial in the Oxfordshire area, giving drivers access to sustainable, affordable travel options.

Vehicles can be hired from £30 a day

The trial features eight car club vehicles, spread across Oxford and all featuring the Hiyacar car sharing technology, bespoke insurance and QuickStart keyless car-access technology. This enables them to be hired through the Hiyacar platform without requiring in-person key handover.

Sign-up to the scheme is free and takes a matter of minutes, while vehicles can be hired from £30 a day.

The new scheme joins Hiyacar’s existing ‘closed loop’ restricted car sharing networks in the area, as well as its recently launched car club in nearby Thame and Haddenham.

Graeme Risby, CEO and co-founder, said: “Hiyacar is incredibly excited to be launching this car club in Oxfordshire, and to be bringing affordable sustainable transport options to Oxfordshire drivers.”

Councillor Duncan Enright, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Travel and Development Strategy, added: “Car clubs can play an important role in reducing overall car ownership while still offering residents the convenience of being able to make a journey when they need to. We are pleased to be able to support these schemes in Oxfordshire and believe they will prove popular with residents as an extra option alongside active travel and public transport.”
