Vital EV has installed liquid-cooled 400kW Kempower satellite chargers at the Millbrook testing facility in Bedfordshire.

The two 400kW chargers, along with two 260kW chargers, will be used to charge prototype and production vehicles

Believed to be the fastest in the UK, the two 400kW chargers have gone live along with two 260kW chargers at the proving ground run by French vehicle testing company UTAC and will be used to charge prototype and production vehicles.

The 400kW Kempower satellite charger has a compact footprint of less than 0.25m², said to offer the highest power-to-footprint ratio on the market.

They’re also fitted with liquid-cooled cables, rated to 500A and dynamically powered by a 500kW power unit, which helps make best use of their grid supply and means they’re capable of a 500kW short-term boost.

The chargers also come with Vital EV’s ‘Trust’ aftersales support, providing continuous monitoring of charger status via the Occulus charging management portal and planned and reactive maintenance, including over-the-air (OTA) updates, via the Networks team.

Alex Rae, director and general manager of Vital EV, commented: “The completion of the UTAC project is just another example of our team’s expertise in delivering sophisticated EV charging projects and our ongoing commitment to achieving our customers’ charging goals. Vital EV is proud to be support UTAC in charging both production and next-generation prototype EVs, which require our tailored solutions and unrivalled aftersales support to meet their unique requirements, time and time again.”
