Vauxhall’s next generation of GSE performance models are going all-electric for a new era, spearheaded by a hot new Mokka GSE edition.

Accompanied by a restyled logo, the incoming fast Vauxhalls will be purely battery electric, advancing the brand’s plans to only offer fully electric vehicles from 2028.

The move signals a new chapter for the GSE sub-brand, which launched in 2022 as a nod to GSi performance models from Vauxhall’s heritage while also complementing existing GS versions.

The GSE moniker, which stands for Grand Sport Electric, denotes range-topping models that combine sharper looks and handling with electric powertrains. This initially included plug-in hybrids, such as the Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSE plus a PHEV version of the previous Grandland, alongside fully electric models.

The announcement was accompanied by a new ‘Three Letters’ film, showing how the future Vauxhall GSE electric cars “will send pulses racing” and including a teaser of the Mokka GSE.

The new edition of performance Vauxhalls will also get a chassis set-up that “directly integrates the driver and offers exciting driving pleasure”, delivering dynamic handling “designed to be stable when braking, cornering and at high speeds on the motorway”.
