Exterior updates for both brings LED headlights as standard, new alloy designs and additional body colours.

Bigger changes take place in the cabin, where both models use new design schemes, incorporating a completely new soft dashboard with larger, floating central infotainment systems – now placed in an elevated position to improve the ergonomics – as well as a new ergonomically designed multifunction steering wheel.

Both models get an 8.25-inch navigation touchscreen on entry-level models, upgraded to a 9.2-inch screen on SE Technology trim and above. A high-resolution digital cockpit comes with both FR Sport and Xcellence Lux/Xperience Lux trims.

The two models also leverage increased levels of connected technology, including the SEAT Connect system and integrated wireless Full Link smart phone functionality.

Updates also include SEAT’s Beats audio system as an option.

Six trim levels are offered for both models. The Ibiza gets SE, SE Technology, FR, FR Sport, Xcellence and Xcellence Lux grades while the Arona replicates this but with Xperience and Xperience Lux at the top of the range.

Engines comprise the 95hp 1.0-litre TSI petrol with manual gearbox, along with a 110hp 1.0-litre TSI with either manual or DSG-auto and, in the case of the Arona, a sportier 150hp 1.5 TSI DSG-auto available exclusively with FR and FR Sport trims. An Ibiza 1.0 MPI model will arrive later in 2021.

Standard warranty is three years/60,000 miles but this can be upgraded to four years/75,000 miles for £165 for the Ibiza and £180 for the Arona, or five years/90,000 miles for £285 and £315 respectively.

Prices start at £16,945 for the Ibiza and £19,260 for the Arona.
