Updated MG5 EV all-electric estate: Pricing and specs revealed

MG has confirmed full pricing and specification for its new and improved MG5 EV estate that’s available to order now, priced from £30,995.

The updated MG5 EV wil encourage more drivers to make the switch to zero-emission motoring

Debuted last month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the revised model will build on the existing success of the all-electric estate, currently the UK’s fifth best-selling electric vehicle in 2022, according to the brand.

The facelifted version gets significant styling updates, including revised front and rear bumpers, redesigned LED head and rear lights, new 16- and 17-inch alloy wheel designs plus two new exterior colours.

The new MG5 EV can also now tow up to 500kg and also gains new Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, first seen on the new ZS EV launched in November 2021 and enabling drivers to power other electric devices, such as camping equipment, using the energy stored in the battery.

It’s available in a choice of two specification levels. The entry SE trim includes MG Pilot, automatic LED headlights and taillights, roof rails, rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as standard.

Buyers who opt for the upgraded Trophy specification, priced from £33,495, gain rear privacy glass, leather interior with electric seat adjustment and heated front seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers and a 360° camera.

Interior design and technology enhancements include a 10.25-inch widescreen infotainment system with upgraded software, now capable of supporting iSmart connected car functionality through MG’s dedicated smartphone app.

MG is also launching its all-new MG4 EV electric hatch in the UK in September; the carmaker’s answer to the Cupra Born and Volkswagen ID.3 and the first in a series of MG models using its new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) architecture, said to deliver outstanding safety, efficiency and driver engagement.

MG Motor UK’s commercial director Guy Pigounakis said: “The continued success of the outgoing MG5 EV model reflected its unique proposition in the marketplace, so we’ve worked extremely hard to identify a suitable balance between equipment upgrades and price. We believe the result represents unbeatable value for money in the current marketplace, and that the new MG5 EV will encourage more drivers than ever to make the switch to zero-emissions motoring.”
