The LRSC warns the UK’s reputation for being a world leader in reducing road casualties is “slipping away”.

Cuts in road safety education could lead to more deaths on the roads

A continued decline in funding for road safety education could impact on the rate of road casualty reductions.

So says the London Road Safety Council (LRSC) as it warns that road safety officers have been cut by two-thirds since 2010

The LRSC points to statistics showing the downward trend in fatalities achieved from 2005 to 2010 is bottoming out, and says it fears the UK’s reputation as a world leader in road casualty reduction is slipping away through a lack of investment in road safety.

The organisation is calling for ministers to prescibe the ratios of staff to population and suggests one full-time road safety officer for every 100,000 people.

Ebbon-Dacs‘ moDel and moDel-VM electronic vehicle delivery and collection solutions have gained new mobile phone and van capabilities.

The tools can now be used on all Android smart phones with screens of five inches or bigger while Ebbon-Dacs has further extended the functionality by adding a schematic of a generic van to the flat screen capability that allows users to record and notify areas of damage on vans as well as cars on both solutions, helping speed up the collection and delivery process.

Ebbon-Dacs’ implementations and product manager, Michael Terry added: “Along with the mobile phone and vans capability, we are about to launch a number of new features within model-VM which we believe make it still more attractive and user-friendly.”
