Targa Telematics propels UK growth plans under new country manager

Targa Telematics has appointed a country manager for the UK market, further accelerating its growth plans.

Thomas Smith, UK country manager for Targa Telematics

Thomas Smith has assumed the role and brings more than 15 years’ experience in the technology industry, including key management, delivery and technical roles across automotive telematics, insurance and banking sectors.

Smith joined Targa Telematics in 2019 as UK delivery manager, having previously been head of IT & project delivery at Tracker Network UK.

The new country manager role sees him take overall responsibility for all commercial and operational aspects of the UK business, including the delivery of technology solutions for B2C and B2B automotive customers into the UK market, and developing new business through Targa Telematics’ suite of telematics services.

Since establishing in the UK market in late 2019, Targa has already established several successful partnerships, leveraging the strong relationships it has from working with many international companies across Europe.

It provides solutions for a variety of sectors, including rental and leasing companies, large corporates and OEMs, and covering services ranging from fleet management and asset management, through to insurance telematics, and corporate and public car sharing, including for the UK’s expanding EV market.

The firm’s modular and scalable digital mobility platform also allows it to quickly develop and deliver customised solutions for its partners in the automotive industry.

Smith commented: “I believe our breadth of solutions and experience working with leading companies in the industry allows us to differentiate ourselves within a competitive market. Our aim is to continue supporting businesses by enabling them to implement sustainable mobility solutions across their fleets.”

Nicola de Mattia, CEO at Targa Telematics, added: “Over the last five years, Targa Telematics has witnessed a significant growth in terms of both international presence and total revenues. We have expanded in Portugal and France, and we are now opening a new office in Madrid, Spain. Thomas has successfully helped us to establish our company in the UK, so we’re delighted to make him our UK country manager and we look forward to growing the business together.”
