Stellantis UK selects RAC for five-year roadside assistance deal

Stellantis has signed up the RAC as its roadside assistance partner for the UK and Ireland, following a competitive tender.

RAC solutions include its EV Boost chargers, which can give fast emergency charges at the roadside

The deal provides three years of complimentary RAC roadside assistance for all Stellantis electric vehicles – regardless of brand – and all Alfa Romeo and DS Automobiles vehicles. All other vehicles get 12 months.

EV drivers benefit from the RAC’s expertise in electric vehicles. The majority of its breakdown vans are fitted with an ‘All-Wheels-Up’ rapid recovery system, allowing patrols to tow the vast majority of vehicles that cannot be fixed at the roadside. The RAC is also upgrading its EV Boost mobile charging units, enabling faster emergency charges at the roadside.

Stellantis is the world’s fourth largest automotive OEM by volume and the new contract means the RAC now covers around a million vehicles run by business fleets and private consumers in the UK.

The RAC also delivers roadside assistance to vehicles sold under the Stellantis Spoticar approved used programme as well as to customers purchasing extended warranties from any Stellantis group brand.

The RAC is also providing Stellantis with its first connected call centre – ensuring any driver pressing either the emergency SOS or breakdown button in a Stellantis vehicle will get the help they need.

The RAC will also continue strengthening its close technical relationships with each Stellantis brand, after starting to work with Groupe PSA back in 2019. Valuable vehicle data and insight will be shared with the Stellantis network of dealerships and product development teams, supporting the group move towards a multi-franchise retail model under the Stellantis & You sales and service brand.

RAC Business CEO Dan Sparks said: “We’re delighted Stellantis has made the RAC its roadside assistance provider of choice. Since winning a contract with Groupe PSA in 2019, we have worked hard to demonstrate both our technical capabilities and our clear focus on delivering a first-rate experience for their customers. The fact the wider Stellantis group has recognised this is a huge vote of confidence in the RAC and we look forward to working with every one of the group’s automotive brands in the UK and Ireland.”
