Specsavers launches free Driver Information Packs

By / 11 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The packs are being launched as the company’s own screening research reveals that as many as one in three drivers fail to meet the minimum eyesight requirements for driving. In response, the packs aim to highlight the issues and provide essential facts and advice for those with fleet and/or employee responsibility.

The information contained within the packs includes the very popular number plate and 20.5 meter ribbon, which gives employers a quick check to raise awareness of the issue internally and for drivers to check if they can see the number plate at the required distance (although this can’t be used in place of a full sight test with an optician). It also includes updates regarding legislation, facts and figures, information and materials for employees, and recent news items. These will be constantly updated to provide the very latest advice and information.

Suzanne Randall, corporate account manager at Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, said: ‘All employers have a duty of care to their employees and this includes when they are driving for work purposes. Our Driver Information Packs aim to arm fleet managers, HR professionals and health and safety experts with the details they need regarding driving vision. We passionately believe that improved eyecare would have a big impact upon safety on our roads and that the workplace plays a vital role in ensuring employees are fit to drive.’

The Licence Bureau, one of Specsavers’ strategic alliances, has welcomed the launch of the Driver Information Packs. Mike Reed, marketing director at the Licence Bureau, commented: 'We partnered with Specsavers because we wanted to tackle the issue of driver eyesight.  So far we have issued over 100 driving packs to our new and existing clients PLUS money saving vouchers to encourage drivers to get their eyes tested.  We have had a great response to the pack with clients asking for more copies to share with colleagues and for other locations.’

The packs are currently being distributed to clients and contacts of Specsavers Corporate Eyecare and are also available free upon request. Please call: 0115 933 0800 or email: [email protected].
