Select Car Leasing co-founder departs from role

Select Car Leasing co-founder and joint CEO James O’Malley is stepping down from his role to focus on personal projects.

Joint CEO James O’Malley is departing from his role

O’Malley, together with CEO Mark Tongue, founded Select Car Leasing in 2004 and has been pivotal to its success story since.

The business, headquartered in Reading, Berkshire, has grown from a small startup to a leading car and van leasing specialist, with more than 120,000 vehicles leased to date and close to 300 staff members across 12 sites nationally.

Its growth has been supported by O’Malley’s expertise, particularly when it comes to technological innovation within the business and Select’s ongoing commitment to excellent customer service.

This includes his instrumental involvement in the design and implementation of the company’s customer relationship management (CRM) system, which is integral to its leading customer service.

Select Car Leasing will continue to operate with Mark Tongue as CEO.

Tongue commented: “While this is a big change for us, I’m excited about the road ahead for Select with the board of directors we have in place – including managing director Graham Conway and financial director Barry Anderson – and the proficient skillset they bring to the table.

“The management team will continue to build on the strong foundations that James has helped to lay.”

He added: “As we bid farewell to James, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to him for his co-leadership, vision and commitment over the years. We wish him success and happiness in the next chapter of his journey.”
