Sales open for Jeep’s first-ever fully electric SUV

Pre-orders are now open for the Jeep Avenger SUV, the American brand’s first-ever fully electric model.

The full Jeep Avenger line-up launches in June

Recently crowned European Car of the Year 2023, the compact crossover will sit between the Renegade and the Compass and join the plug-in hybrid versions of these models, supporting its vision of “Zero emissions, 100% freedom”. It also furthers plans by parent firm Stellantis to have more than 75 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2030.

The Avenger’s electric powertrain generates 156hp of power and 260Nm of torque while its 51kWh battery provides a range up to 248 miles. It supports 100kW rapid charging, enabling a 0% to 80% charge in just over half an hour.

But the Avenger is also said to be true to the Jeep DNA, offering claimed impressive ground clearance, approach, breakover and departure angles for its segment. It’s equipped with as standard with Hill Descent Control along with SelecTerrain, which offers six modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud and Sand.

It arrives initially in 1st Edition guise, ahead of the arrival of the full range in June.

Priced from £36,500, the 1st Edition is available in three colours – Sun, Graphite and Volcano – all with black roof, privacy glass and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Onboard tech features include a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen Infotainment system, DAB, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 360-degree parking sensors and 180-degree rear camera, level two autonomous drive (ACC with lane centring and traffic jam assist), wireless smartphone charger and keyless entry & go.

It also comes with blind spot monitor, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, hands-free power liftgate, traffic sign recognition with intelligent speed assist, and rain sensors.

The brand says the new model is aimed at customers seeking a capable, compact, modern all-electric Jeep. It also claims class-leading space for cargo and contents.

The Avenger also comes with a three-year vehicle warranty (or battery warranty of 100,000 miles in eight years).
