RoSPA conference to mark launch of new fleet safety benchmarking tool

Titled Finding Solutions to Age-Old Challenges, the event – which takes place at the Holiday Inn, in Stratford-Upon-Avon on Wednesday 2 March – will include a section focusing specifically on the management of work-related road safety, with Melvyn Hodgetts, champion programme manager for Driving for Better Business (DfBB), to launch the new free online Fleet Safety Benchmarking tool.

Aimed at helping employers measure their at-work road safety performance against other organisations, the tool is a significant enhancement of Interactive Driving Systems’ Fleet Safety Gap Analysis, an online 10-question solution that allows fleets to benchmark their own responses against those of currently almost 1,400 participants providing an insight into the safety of an organisation’s vehicles and drivers and how they rank against others.

Adrian Walsh, director of RoadSafe which leads the government-backed DfBB, said: “In developing the online tool, we have heard from numerous organisations that there is little understanding of where to start collecting road safety data, what information to collect and how best to analyse and interpret the information once they have it. This benchmarking solution is designed to assist these processes by proving standardised methods through a secure online platform.”

The RoSPA event, which is aimed at road safety policymakers, researchers and practitioners, will also look at young and older drivers and rural safety, as well as partnership working, education, evidence and evaluation, motorcycle safety and travel programmes.

Kevin Clinton, RoSPA’s head of road safety, said: “This conference will be a chance for road safety professionals to come together and find solutions for age-old challenges.”
