Renault Trucks launches dropside, refrigerated and campervan Trafic models

Renault Trucks has expanded its LCV offering with the launch of three new vehicles in its Trafic range.

The new arrivals include the Red Edition Caged Dropside, the Red Edition Chiller refrigerated van and the Red Exclusive Roadtrip campervan.

The latest Trafic variants will support work by the brand to grow its presence by offering more targeted solutions. Grahame Neagus, head of LCV, explained: “For several years Renault Trucks has been focused on increasing its market share and penetration through innovation and a compelling tailored proposition that is set to continue with the launch of these three new Renault Trucks Trafic variants.”

As with all models, the latest variants draw on Renault Trucks’ 35-year experience in the conversion marketplace, its century-long expertise in HGVs, together with its comprehensive distribution and repair dealer network.

The Trafic Red Edition Caged Dropside is aimed at sectors including construction, municipal, parks, arborists and rubbish clearance and is particularly targeted at urban locations. Built on the Red Edition platform cab, it’s available either as a caged dropside body or in a standard dropside body and features an L2 wheelbase, single H1 cab, Euro 6 Step E 150hp engine and six-speed manual gearbox. It delivers a typical payload of 850kg with caged side or 950kg without.

Converted by P.D. Stevens & Sons, it delivers practical features including sloping alloy plank floor, high drop-down mesh sides in addition to the conventional alloy dropsides, full-height rear mesh doors and underfloor tool storage with lockable doors either side. It’s also fully Chapter 8 compliant including LED and strobe lighting and chevrons.

The Red Edition Chiller refrigerated van is aimed at food, plant or pharmaceutical product applications and is said to provide more space than a standard refrigerated van, together with a typical 865 to 1,000kg payload and nearside access via a single door as well as twin doors to the rear. It’s also based on the Red Edition platform cab, converted by Gray and Adams with a refrigerated chiller box body and is also available as a freezer or dual compartment.

It features an L2 wheelbase, single H1 cab, moveable bulkhead for dual temperature, electric standby facility and Euro 6 Step E 150hp engine with six-speed manual gearbox.

The Red Exclusive Roadtrip has been developed in conjunction with approved converter, Sussex Campervans. It’s based on the Trafic Red Exclusive and comes with L2 wheelbase and H1 single cab. It’s available in any colour from the Red Exclusive range along with any of the standard options ex-factory.

It’s kitted out with a fully electric lifting and retracting roof system activated by a remote-control hand fob, a four-berth sleeping facility and two-tone leather or fabric interior. Features include swivelling front seats, rear toilet system, integrated full induction cooker, on-board electric system, 50-litre fridge freezer, maximum roof size solar panel, rear-mounted bike carrier and low-profile side awning as standard. It can also be specified in the slightly shorter L1H1 version too as well as being offered with rear tailgate doors.

Grahame Neagus added: “Our customers appreciate the versatility, reliability, and performance of the Trafic range, as well as the ability to personalise the vehicle to the individual’s needs and activities and these new variants take this to the next level. With a wider range of specifications to choose from, we are confident that we can offer our customers the perfect LCV vehicle to suit their needs.”
