The six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission can be used in both fully automatic and manual gear mode, with the latter offering an “up/down” flick-shift mode. There’s also an optimised “creep” and assisted hill start control.

The new transmission also offers CO2 emissions among the lowest for any automatic gearbox in either class. The Clio delivers 95g/km CO2 emission with 76.0 mpg combined cycle fuel economy. Figures for the Captur have not been announced.

Already offered for the Mégane and Scénic ranges, the automatic diesel has been added to the Clio and Captur line-ups in the Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique MediaNav S trims, with prices starting from £16,595 and £17,395 respectively.

Other changes to the Clio range include the debut of the on-board telemetry and performance tracking system, Renaultsport Monitor 2.0, now available as an option on the GT Line TCe 120 as well as the Renaultsport 200 EDC Turbo and the launch of a rear parking camera option on the standard Clio range.
