Peugeot launches 79g/km 208 in UK

Billed as the best-performing non-hybrid car on the road, the 79g/km 208 is offered in Active and Allure trim levels, in both three and five doors, priced from £14,995 and £16,195.

The new 208 is powered by the 1.6-litre BlueHDi 75hp with Stop & Start (S&S) technology plus SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and an additive particle filter.

Mark Pickles, marketing director at Peugeot UK, said: “We pride ourselves in producing engines that reduce emissions without compromising performance and driver enjoyment, while optimising fuel consumption. The new 208 79g/km is the industry class leader and reinforces the brand’s commitment in continually pushing the boundaries of technology for both petrol and diesel engines.”

Last year saw the Peugeot 208 scoop overall victory in the MPG Marathon. Driven in real-world driving conditions over 385 miles the diesel five-door hatchback 208 achieved an average fuel economy of 104.5mpg. This was not only the highest MPG figure of any car taking part in the event, but it also came in second in the 'Best Percentage Improvement' on the manufacturers’ official fuel consumption figures with a 29% uplift.
