Riley, best known for her role on television’s Countdown as well as 8 out of 10 Cats and other television hits, is a graduate of applied mathematics and understands the crucial role algorithms play in enabling organisations to be more efficient and to decarbonise.

“Optimize has the technology and software in place to deliver a significant impact for fleet operators, supporting operational efficiency and the journey to a zero-carbon society,” she explained. “I’m looking forward to working with the team and playing my part in improving the efficiency of the fleet sector.”

Optimize is also pushing ahead with rapid business growth and technical development following its recent rebrand from The Algorithm People.

It’s also developed a new, more powerful algorithm, ready for launch and using artificial intelligence and machine learning to help generate further efficiencies within fleets.

CEO Colin Ferguson said: “The company has grown rapidly over the past 12 months. We have added exceptional new talent to our team and our client base continues to expand. I’m delighted Rachel Riley is working with us, her deep knowledge of mathematics means she understands our mission and we know she will be instrumental in helping to accelerate our growth plans.”

The new Optimize algorithm, based upon artificial intelligence, will launch in April and will have the capacity to deal with more complex transport optimisation tasks, delivering improved efficiencies faster.
