Nissan Qashqai revised with extra equipment and design tweaks

Nissan has updated the Qashqai for the 2022 model year with extra equipment and exterior design changes to bring it in line with latest product branding.

The design tweaks bring the Qashqai in line with latest Nissan product branding

Design changes are minor and introduce the latest Nissan badge on the exterior and interior as well as a new darker grey rear bumper. Top-grade Tekna+ trim level models now get LED front fog lights as standard, rather than an option.

Other equipment changes bring a larger 12.3-inch navigation screen as standard from N-Connecta trim level and above – uprated from the current 9.0-inch display. The N-Connecta grade can also be specified with a 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel, plus a glass roof pack for £650.

Nissan has also enhanced its Connect Services package with features including a digital owner’s manual, customer identification with i-Key, voice in-car control, Alexa personal assistant and parking information.

Pricing has been revised upwards in line with the changes and now starts from £25,505 for the Visia grade – up by £1,500 – and topping out at £36,325 for the Tekna+.

The range will also be updated later this year with the arrival of Nissan’s e-Power fully hybrid technology, which makes its European debut and joins the existing 1.3-litre mild hybrid petrol variants of the Qashqai.

It uses a range-extender set-up whereby the 190hp electric motor is the sole source of power to the wheels; the 156hp 1.5-litre petrol engine is only used to generate electricity, which is either transmitted via the inverter to the battery pack, the electric motor or both, according to the driving scenario. Nissan says it will provide instant and linear performance and provides “an appealing alternative to traditional hybrids where drivers have to accept the inherent shortcomings to the driving experience”.

Full details are yet to be announced but initial data has indicated a WLTP combined mpg figure of 53.5mpg and 119g/km CO2 emissions.
