New Peugeot 308 and 308 SW launch in UK with first-ever PHEVs

The new Peugeot 308 and 308 SW are open for orders in the UK, featuring new design and their first-ever plug-in hybrids.

The third-generation 308 models are priced from £25,270 for the hatchback and £26,470 for the SW

The third-generation models, which are priced from £25,270 for the hatchback and £26,470 for the SW, are the first Peugeots to feature its new logo. Revealed last year, this uses a roaring lion’s head to acknowledge the carmaker’s evolution as a brand and its continuing transition to electrification; it’s committed to offering an electrified variant across its entire model line-up by 2025.

Both models are available from launch with the two new plug-in hybrid powertrains, while fully electric variants will follow in 2023.

The Hybrid 180 and Hybrid 225 PHEVs both feature a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and are powered by a 12.4kWh battery connected to a 109hp electric motor. They’re capable of an electric-only range of up to 37 miles while a full charge using a domestic wallbox with the car’s standard 3.7kW onboard charger will take three hours 50 minutes and the optional 7.4kW onboard charger reduces this to one hour 55 minutes.

In addition, 1.2-litre PureTech petrol and 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel engines are also available, both with 130hp.

All models come with the brand’s i-Cockpit configuration with a new compact multi-function steering wheel and a 10-inch HD capacitive colour touchscreen that houses the i-Connect infotainment system (available from Allure trim). Also new are the customisable i-Toggles controls (again available from Allure trim) that allow owners to set personalised shortcut keys for a number of functions.

Both models can also be specified with heated front seats accredited by the AGR healthier backs campaign and with 10-way electric adjustment and a multi-point massage system.

Standard safety and driver assistance technologies include active safety brake with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intelligent speed adaptation, lane keeping assist, programmable cruise control and speed limiter and driver attention warning.

Options include adaptive cruise control with stop function, full Matrix LED headlights, rear cross traffic alert and 360-degree surround view parking camera.
