The new Swift delivers enhanced styling and performance, alongside lower CO2 emissions and better fuel economy

Showcased at the Japan Mobility show in October 2023, the fourth generation of the Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen Polo rival keeps it simple with just one engine – the brand’s latest 12V mild-hybrid petrol engine – and either Motion or Ultra grades.

The new 1.2-litre mild hybrid three-cylinder engine delivers 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque. It’s available with either a five-speed manual transmission – which will gain optional Allgrip ‘Auto’ 4WD later this year – or a CVT. Top speed is up to 106mph and with a 0-62mph time of 11.9 seconds for the CVT.

CO2 emissions start at 99g/km, with combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg for the entry-level Motion grade with manual transmission. The CVT maintains a combined fuel consumption figure of 60.1mpg and with emissions of 106g/km.

Motion is expected to be the most popular trim level, with standard specification including rear upper spoiler, LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, 9-inch media display including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, navigation, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, rear view camera, rear parking sensors, dual sensor brake support (upgraded), traffic sign recognition and blind spot monitor.

Ultra grade adds 16-inch polished alloy wheels, automatic air con, rear passenger heater outlet and electric folding door mirrors incorporating side turn indicators.

The Swift also gets the Suzuki Connect package of connected services, enabling drivers to monitor and receive notifications in real time via the app, remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, and view information such as driving history and the location of their parked car.

Users can also get maintenance-related information and warning light notifications via the Suzuki Connect app, and if an issue is detected, vital diagnostic information can be shared with their registered Suzuki dealer, allowing for faster and more comprehensive after-sales support.

Suzuki Connect is offered free of charge for three years from the vehicle registration date.

Suzuki also offers its Service Activated Warranty. It’s available free of charge after the manufacturer warranty expires and when the vehicle is then booked in for its next scheduled service within the Suzuki dealer network. It stays in place until the next qualifying service and is then renewed again up to a maximum vehicle age of seven years / 100,000 miles – whichever comes first.

Design has been updated and adds in blacked-out pillars, a piano-black grille and L-shaped signature lamps, three-dimensional effect rear combination lamps and a wide rear bumper. The Swift retains its familiar outline and compact dimensions.

The new Swift is priced from £18,699 for the 1.2-litre mild hybrid manual in Motion trim and rises to £21,049 in Ultra trim and with the Allgrip 4WD manual.
