Scottish startup Munro has revealed its new Mk_1 Pick-Up, aimed at fleets seeking “prodigious off-road ability and exceptional practicality with zero tailpipe emissions”.

Priced from £49,995 excluding VAT, the pickup features an easy-to-load rear bed able to take accommodate a Euro pallet and with a 1,050kg payload and up to 3,500kg maximum braked towing capacity. Designed, engineered and built in Britain, it also delivers up to 190 miles of range.

The range-topping Performance model features a 380hp single motor, giving 700Nm of torque and able to go from 0 to 60mph in 4.9 seconds. The Utility and Range variants use a smaller 299hp motor.

The 82.4kWh battery can be charged from 15 to 80% using a 100kW DC charger in just 36 minutes.

The new arrival is targeted at customers working in fields such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture and defence, helping them to meet decarbonisation targets.

It’s the brand’s second electric vehicle following the launch of the MK_1 Truck 4×4 last December – the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in more than four decades – and signifies the next strategic step in Munro Vehicle’ global growth plans.

It’s also engineered for 50 years of service with routine maintenance and planned refurbishment.

“We launched Munro to fill the significant gap in the market for an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive, utilitarian workhorse. Our vehicles are designed and engineered without compromise from clean sheet principles unimpeded by any existing architecture. The result is a rugged construction created for decades of service delivering ultimate, go-anywhere, off-road ability,” said Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson.

“The levels of positive feedback we have experienced from media and customers who have test driven the MK_1 Truck has been unprecedented and the response to the new MK_1 Pick-Up has been equally positive. This, and the 200 plus pre-orders we have taken across both the truck and Pick-Up models, gives us great confidence that the vehicles Munro has created are precisely what the market wants and needs.”

The MK_1 Pick-Up debuts at Fully Charged Live North 2023 and starts deliveries later this year.
