Andy Smyth has joined used car supermarket Motorpoint as the firm’s first-ever chief operating officer.

Smyth will primarily be responsible for vehicle preparation and logistics, operational excellence and business improvement across the Motorpoint branch network in England, Scotland and Wales.

Smyth was previously at equipment and servicing specialist JLA where he spent the last six years as group operations director and has also spent over 25 years working in senior roles within British Gas, most notably as head of operations.

Commenting on his new role, Smyth said: “I’ve been incredibly impressed from day one by the vision of the executive team as well as the culture of continuous improvement which, when backed by the quality of the cars and the spirit of the teams on the ground, makes Motorpoint a very compelling proposition.”
