Motorway services operator Moto and sustainable energy company Gridserve are launching their first ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging hub in Scotland.

Gridserve now has more than 200 ultra-rapid charge points across 23 of Moto’s sites across the UK

The new Moto Kinross site provides drivers with access to six charge points with up to 350kW, able to deliver up to 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes and supplied with 100% net zero carbon energy from Gridserve’s solar farms.

Gridserve now has more than 200 ultra-rapid charge points across 23 of Moto’s sites across the UK.

All the new chargers accept contactless payment for ease of accessibility and have been designed to feature both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors and provide at least one extra-wide accessible charging bay for every six EV charging spaces.

Moto chief executive Ken McMeikan said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our first ultra-rapid charging hub in Scotland at Moto Kinross. Being from Scotland myself, I know this is a significant boost for motorway drivers in Scotland and that it will help to reduce range anxiety for EV drivers travelling in, out and around the country.”

Toddington Harper, CEO of Gridserve, added: “We are thrilled to reach an awesome milestone of 200 High Power chargers with our partners, Moto. It’s great to mark this milestone with some of our first High Power chargers in Scotland. Expansion of High Power chargers is vital to changing perceived ‘charging anxiety’ into charging confidence. We are proud to be delivering a reliable charging network across the UK at speed and scale to support decarbonising transport and to ultimately move the needle on climate change.”
