The carmaker says it expects to sell 65% of the new MG6 DTi-TECH diesels in the fleet and business sector of the market, adding that it estimates that over three years the new MG6 GT and MG6 Magnette DTi-TECH diesels will be among the most economic for many company car drivers to run.

Both GT and Magnette models feature MG’s inhouse 1.9-litre DTi-TECH diesel variable rate turbocharged diesel engine, which delivers 150PS with 350Nm of torque at 1,800rpm. The engine gives a 0-62mph time of 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 120mph, whilst also delivering a combined fuel consumption of 53.5 mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/100km, helped by its Stop-Start technology and Smart Charging system, which saves energy by only supplying power to certain electrical components when it is actually needed.

MG says that a key attraction of the model is its value for money. While P11D prices are in the middle of the company car banding, with the MG6 DTi-TECH standing at £16,820 for the GT in S trim; £18,020 for the GT in SE trim; £20,020 for the GT in TSE trim and the Magnette, the carmaker says it offers the extremely high levels of standard specification with no actual options offered.

The entry-level S model includes as standard electronically controlled air conditioning, electric windows all round, ICE consisting of radio, RDS, CD player, MP3, USB and aux-in capability, along with body-coloured mirrors, rear spoiler and fog lamps.

Safety equipment includes ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), brake pad wear sensor, brake disc wiping, Stability Control System (SCS) and Hill Hold.

Standard kit for the SE model includes satellite navigation (covering 27 countries), a rear parking aid and cruise control and the front windows have a one-touch operation. For comfort there is a multi-functional leather steering wheel and cruise control.

The top-spec TSE model has leather sports seats, the satellite navigation system is displayed in full colour and the reversing parking aid has a camera with a large display screen. The all-round electric windows feature one one-touch operation and the TSE has automatic electronic dual zone climate control and the ICE system receives the addition of Bluetooth. TSE models run on larger 18-inch alloy wheels.

Diesel MG6 models also feature E-HPAS progressively variable power assistance steering.

MG says that other key attractions include class-leading boot capacity on MG6 models, standing at 498 litres to 1,379 litres on the GT and 472 litres to 1,268 litres on the Magnette with the rear seats folded.
