Mercedes E-Class Estate on sale with range-topping PHEV

The new Mercedes E-Class Estate is now on sale in the UK, delivering increased space, latest digital tech and a range-topping plug-in hybrid.

Priced from £57,930, it joins the E-Class Saloon unveiled earlier this year and offers the latest-gen MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system as standard along with design that draws on the Mercedes-EQ line-up.

The E-Class Estate is initially available in AMG Line, AMG Line Advanced, AMG Line Premium, plus the top-level AMG Line Premium Plus and Exclusive Edition specifications. The launch line-up includes four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines – both with mild-hybrid technology – and the brand’s latest plug-in hybrid with up to 69 miles of electric range.

The entry-level model is the AMG Line E 200 with the 2.0-litre mild hybrid petrol engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and delivering 204hp, combined WLTP fuel consumption of up to 42.2mpg and CO2 emissions from 153g/km. It’s available in all five trims, priced from £57,930 to £69,740.

Sitting above it is the E 220 d with the 2.0-litre mild hybrid turbo diesel, again with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and delivering 197hp and up to 56.5mpg combined fuel consumption with emissions from 132g/km. As with the petrol, it’s available in all five trims; prices range from £59,220 to £71,035.

The fourth-generation plug-in hybrid in the E 300 e teams up a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 25.4kWh battery, giving a 204hp output, official combined fuel consumption is up to 470.8mpg and the PHEV returns as little as 14g/km CO2. Full electrical power is available up to 87mph. It’s available with all the middle three grades and priced from £70,270 for the AMG Line Advanced through to £78,835 for the AMG Line Premium Plus.

All get the latest-gen MBUX system, which introduces new functions, services and interaction options including a new Android compatibility layer to allow the installation of selected third-party applications such as TikTok and Zoom, and an enhanced version of the ‘Hey Mercedes’ intelligent voice assistant. MBUX also supports wireless integration with compatible smartphones through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

AMG Line models also come with 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, LED high performance headlamps with adaptive highbeam assist, active distance assist distronic, blind spot assist, traffic sign Assist, a 14.4-inch central media display with 12.3-inch driver display, two-zone climate control, wireless charging, the easy pack tailgate, a reversing camera and heated front seats.

AMG Line Advanced adds 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, digital light LED headlamps, Memory Seat Package, MBUX augmented reality for navigation and the Parking Package with 360-degree camera.

AMG Line Premium models introduce the MBUX Superscreen, which combines the 14.4-inch central media display with a screen for the front-seat passenger. They also add in the a premium surround sound system, upgraded ambient lighting and digital key technology allowing the Mercedes to be started and locked with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch.

Extra features on the AMG Line Premium Plus include 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, the MBUX interior assistant, a projection function for the headlights, a 3D instrument cluster and illuminated radiator grille.

Exclusive Edition models are priced the same as AMG Line Premium Plus, and include 21-inch alloy wheels and bespoke interior and exterior styling, with a bonnet-mounted Mercedes-Benz star.

The new E-Class Estate is also wider than before and with a longer wheelbase that delivers more elbow, knee and leg room to rear passengers. Load spaces stands at 615 litres to 1,830 litres, falling to 460 to 1,675 litres for the plug-in hybrid. Towing capacity is up to 2,100kg.
