Logistics UK’s Transport Manager events to ease legislative load

Logistics UK’s Transport Manager conferences are returning this autumn to help transport managers keep abreast of a wealth of legislation in the sector.

The conferences attracted a record number of delegates last year

The conference series, now in its 24th year, will run from September with live events at 10 venues around the UK as well as a virtual event.

Logistics UK estimates that transport managers need to keep up to date with more than 70 pieces of individual legislation covering the operation and maintenance of vehicles: regular updates and small changes can mean that the actual amount of work required is significantly higher.

The conferences, which attracted a record number of more than 1,800 delegates last year, offer transport managers the opportunity to hear from a variety of expert speakers, including the Traffic Commissioners,

They also provide all the latest information and guidance on industry legislation and other issues affecting their work, to ensure their fleets remain compliant and can operate safely.

Sponsored by Brigade Electronics, this year’s event will include a packed one-day schedule, as well as a compliance update and Transport Manager calendar, and will include sessions on:

  • A view from the Traffic Commissioner
  • GSR and ADAS systems
  • The legal responsibilities of a transport manager
  • The revision of the Transport Manager CPC syllabus
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Driver focus
  • Dealing with fatal incidents and collision investigation by the Metropolitan Police

Advisors from Logistics UK’s Member Advice Centre will also be on hand throughout the day to advise on legislation and compliance issues.

Kevin Green, Logistics UK’s director of policy and communications, said: “We are thrilled to be preparing for our 24th Transport Manager series this autumn. These events play an important part in the transport calendar, supported as they are by so many transport managers and our impressive line–up of speakers and sponsors.

“Keeping up to date on compliance changes and staying informed on developments in the industry are vital for transport managers so they can perform their role adequately. It’s also worth remembering that attending a Transport Manager event counts towards continuous professional development (CPD) requirements.

“With a packed schedule of top-quality speakers, we’re looking forward to another highly successful Transport Manager series this year and the advice is to book early to ensure your place, as events are sure to fill up quickly.”
