Latest Advisory Fuel Rates revealed
HM Revenue & Customs has announced Advisory Fuel Rates that come into effect from 1 June but still don’t take account of plug-in cars.
The latest AFR rates bring some changes for diesel and LPG-fuelled vehicles.
The latest AFRs include a 1p per mile increase for diesel vehicles 1600cc or less while LPG-fuelled vehicles of 1401cc to 2000cc and over 2000cc go up by 1ppm. Petrol rates remain unchanged.
However, despite ongoing calls from ACFO, HMRC has not published rates for plug-in cars. ACFO has repeatedly said that such rates could help drive fleet take-up of plug-in vehicles and recently launched a petition calling on HMRC to expedite them.
The new AFR figures are shown below (previous quarter figures are shown in brackets):
Engine size | Petrol | LPG |
1400cc or less | 11p (11p) | 7p (7p) |
1401cc to 2000cc | 14p (14p) | 9p (8p) |
Over 2000cc | 22p (22p) | 14p (13p) |
Engine size | Diesel |
1600cc or less | 10p (9p) |
1601cc to 2000cc | 11p (11p) |
Over 2000cc | 13p (13p) |
Hybrid cars are treated as either petrol or diesel cars for this purpose.
Fleets can use the previous rates for up to one month from the date the new rates apply.
