Andrew Jago, general manager, fleet & business at Jaguar Land Rover

What is your ambition in your current job role?

To increase the relevance, appeal and brand experience of Jaguar and Land Rover with fleet and business drivers.

What job did you want to do when you were growing up?

An automotive career was always my goal.

The best takeaway food is…?

Indian.

What’s the proudest moment in your career?

I’ve enjoyed an incredibly diverse and international automotive career with many highlights. My proudest moment was being appointed sales director of 33 importer markets with Jaguar Land Rover in Europe. I worked with a fantastic team and together we delivered four consecutive years of record sales. Relocating to Germany with my family was also an enriching experience.

Favourite James Bond?

Sean Connery – the original and the best!

Current car?

Range Rover Sport: It’s the automotive equivalent of a Swiss Army knife.

If money was no object, what’s the first thing you would buy?

An Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch. I’ve made enquiries, but still waiting!

Name three cars in your dream garage.

My dream garage is a reality: Range Rover Sport; Porsche 911 and a BMW K1300S motorcycle. If it has to be a third car, I’ll add an E-Type.

What are the biggest challenges facing fleets at the moment?

Vehicle availability and price inflation require fleet operators to be more flexible. On a positive note, recent confirmation of Benefit-in-Kind rates until 2027/28 is welcome news and enables fleets to enter three-, four- and five-year contract hire agreements with certainty for their drivers.

You’re on your dream holiday. Where in the world are you?

Langkawi, Malaysia.

Night in or night out?

I enjoy entertaining at home, but I’m always up for a night out!

What’s your supermarket of choice?

Waitrose.

What car do you currently drive?

Range Rover Sport. I’ve driven over 200,000 miles in various different ones across Europe, North America and North Africa. It’s the automotive equivalent of a Swiss Army knife. If you need a car that does it all, look no further.

Tea, coffee or other (state alternative)?

Tea (Breakfast).

Books or magazines?

I love a good book and am currently working my way through Tom Bradby’s novels – they’re hard to put down!

Who is your idol in life and work?

I’ve been privileged to meet and work with some of the best people in our industry. Roger Penske has to be up there with the greatest. His achievements are extraordinary and he’s a lovely person too.
