TTC has launched new interactive training courses aimed at high-risk fleet drivers and those with poor telematics performance – including young drivers.

The workshops tackle the fatal five road risks for high-risk drivers

Designed for businesses that proactively employ telematics to improve driver performance, including TTC’s Continuum, the courses move away from conventional driver training to adopt an interactive approach that the firm says will improve on-road safety through greater knowledge and proactive strategies.

Sessions focus on either Speed Management, Driver Distractions, Driver Impairment and Driver Fatigue. The Young Driver session brings together the greatest road risks covered by each of the four individual workshops but adds ‘Seat Belt Use’ to its agenda, ensuring the fatal five offences that are the most common causes of serious road collisions are addressed.

Andy Wheeler, training product manager at TTC, said: “Our interactive workshops will enable fleet managers and businesses operating fleets to swiftly act on prioritised driver training needs, helping them to meet duty of care obligations and improve road risk management.

“Importantly, the new range includes training specifically for young drivers – those under the age of 24. Whilst new driving licence regulations are being proposed to reduce fatalities among young drivers, there will be exemptions such as driving for work. Employers, therefore, have a duty of care to ensure that young adults on their fleet are equipped with the understanding of what the risks are and how to avoid them.”

The TTC courses can be taken in-person by companies for a maximum of 16 drivers, delivering an alternative to standard in-house training, or taken in the virtual live classroom with up to 12 attendees.
