Due to make its world premiere in August, the fifth-generation Santa Fe adopts boxy styling that maximises its cargo hauling abilities and is aimed at lifestyle buyers.

The brand says the new “robust exterior design with fine details”, which has Land Rover echoes, makes a powerful statement. New features include H-shaped front and rear lights and the Santa Fe name across the boot lid, plus 21-inch wheels.

Technical details are still be revealed but Hyundai says it sits on a longer wheelbase that delivers more room for occupants and gives “terrace-like tailgate space”. The second- and third-row seats are fully foldable.

As with the exterior, the cabin uses an H-motif design and also employs brightly coloured seats and headliner, a soft-touch wood-patterned finish and Nappa leather seats. There’s also a strong focus on sustainable materials, including recycled plastic for the suede headliner, car mats and rear seatbacks while the crash pad and door trim covers are made from leatherette designed to be eco-friendly.

The cabin also comes with a new panoramic curved display with a 12.3-inch digital cluster and infotainment system and the addition of dual wireless charging.

No powertrain details have been announced. The current line-up includes a 230hp 1.6-litre petrol hybrid, 265hp four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid and 200hp 2.2-litre diesel.

The all-new Santa Fe will make its world premiere in August on Hyundai’s YouTube channel.
