HPI Crushwatch helps leasing firms recover £7.75m uninsured vehicles
HPI’s Crushwatch scheme helped finance and leasing companies recover uninsured vehicles to the tune of over £7.75m in November, saving the vehicles from disposal.

The UK-wide scheme helps lenders minimise losses and help keep roads safer by reclaiming their assets from the police.
Last year saw the scheme help finance and leasing companies recover over £67m of uninsured vehicles and 2016’s total figure is expected to eclipse that.
Barry Shorto, head of industry relations at HPI, said: “The HPI Crushwatch figures highlight that some drivers of high-value cars are also not exempt from driving without insurance, causing a risk to other road users and pedestrians. Clamping down on this is not just a safety issue but also about reclaiming vehicles across the UK which otherwise may have found ended up at auction or on the scrap heap.”
