HMRC publishes latest advisory fuel rates
HMRC has announced latest advisory fuel rates, which take effect from 1 December 2020 and bring just one update.
The only change is for petrol engines from 1401cc to 2000cc, where the rate drops a penny to 11ppm.
All other rates, including for diesel and LPG-fuelled models, remain the same.
The electric vehicle rate remains at 4ppm.
The new tables are as follows (old rates in brackets):
|Engine size||Petrol – amount per mile||LPG – amount per mile|
|1400cc or less||10 pence (10p)||7 pence (7p)|
|1401cc to 2000cc||11 pence (12p)||8 pence (8p)|
|Over 2000cc||17 pence (17)||12 pence (12p)|
|Engine size||Diesel – amount per mile|
|1600cc or less||8 pence (8p)|
|1601cc to 2000cc||10 pence (10p)|
|Over 2000cc||12 pence (12p)|
As before, hybrid cars are to be treated as petrol or diesel vehicles.
The previous rates can be used for up to one month from the date the new rates apply.
