The move comes as current incumbent Mark Chessman is promoted to a new role as chief operating officer of Redde, which acquired FMG three years ago.
Stead has 13 years’ experience at FMG, including seven years as sales director from 2001 before moving on to roles at Lex and Close Motor Finance Limited. He rejoined FMG in 2013 as commercial director.
Redde group chief executive Martin Ward said: “Harvey has made a major contribution to the FMG senior team over many years as commercial director and his appointment as managing director provides both continuity for FMG with his understanding of operations and people but also brings new energy to continue FMG’s successful growth.”
Ward added: “The appointment of Mark to the new Redde role recognises his contribution to the growth and success of FMG.”
