Global Toyota recall won’t affect UK

The recall applies to the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, and Venza made in 2012-13, with around 847,000 cars affected in North America and the rest in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. However, the recall will not impact on the UK where the vehicles are not sold.

Last year saw the BVRLA launch a free-to-use electronic vehicle safety recall system, ReCare, developed by online solutions provider Ebbon-Dacs to help fleets with recalls.

The system identifies subscribers’ individual vehicles that are subject to safety recall notices and delivers regular reports to manufacturers on which registered keepers have been notified. The information is made available from a single online source, cutting the time and cost involved in processing recalls. Around 20 leasing companies, several major daily rental operators and a number of large corporate fleets have already signed up to the scheme.
