Already seen at the New York Motor Show in March, the Soul will make its debut at Frankfurt in its European specification. The latest version of the urban crossover is based on the 2012 Kia Track'ster concept and features a new interior whilst retaining the original model’s upright stance, squared shoulders, wraparound greenhouse, high-mounted tail lights and lofty ride height.

The latest model uses a new platform based on that of the cee’d and said to offer improved ride and handling compared with the outgoing model, as well as more mature and refined on-road behaviour thanks to upgraded suspension and a 29% stiffer body shell.

Interior and luggage space are also improved, with greater leg, head and shoulder for all passengers, while boot space increases from 340 to 354 litres with the rear seats upright.

Improved efficiency and lower emissions are offered by the latest versions of Kia's 1.6-litre GDi petrol and CRDi diesel engines, as well as six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The Soul will also offer a range of new premium features including: front LED daytime running lights and rear LED 'halo' lights, xenon headlights, keyless entry and push-button engine start, automatic climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, panoramic glass sunroof and heated and electrically folding exterior mirrors.

Full model line-up and prices will be announced closer to the model’s launch across Europe early next year.
