As an affordable large SUV, the Touareg is hard to beat, and it’s a lot more affordable than you might think thanks to various finance offers on at present.

For cash-for-car drivers there’s a 0% finance offer with a £2,000 deposit contribution, while Volkswagen’s fleet team can put user- choosers in an SEL model identical to our car for less than £400 a month on a three-year/30,000- mile contract hire deal.

That’s not much money for what is plenty of car – and with a 48- hour test drive option at the moment, anyone in the market for a family SUV would be daft not to try one out.
