Fleet World Fleet: Škoda Karoq SE L 1.5-Litre TSI 150PS
One particularly practical feature on our long-term Karoq finds favour with John Challen.

The Karoq’s ‘universal fixing elements’ are proving their worth
You know that moment when you wonder how you coped without something in your life before it existed? Well, I’ve reached that point with the Karoq’s ‘universal fixing elements’ – the velcro- backed supports that sit on the boot floor to hold items in place. I’m fully aware I’ve mentioned them before (and promise not to again for the rest of the time the Karoq keys are in my hands), but they really do come into their own, especially when you’re the delivery driver for a cake-maker wife. On the latest journey, the route took me down a few winding streets and then over speed bumps, but I had full confidence the main attraction would make it to the party in one piece.
What also helps is the Karoq’s handling, not something that a lot of small SUV drivers would pick up on or even worry about. But the car’s steering has plenty of feel while remaining light enough to make parking and manoeuvring a joy and, should you wish to press on a bit (ideally not when delivering a cake), the car remains remarkably balanced through the corners.
