Facelifted i30 to bring new engines with emissions down to 94g/km

On sale from 2015, the new range sees upgrades to the exterior for all three bodystyles: three-door, five-door and Tourer. Changes include a new grille, newly designed alloy wheels (16 and 17-inch), as well as three new exterior colours: Polar White, Orange Caramel and Jet Black.

The engine range has been updated to offer a more efficient line-up that brings power outputs ranging from 99bhp to 183bhp and CO2 emissions from as low as 94g/km.

Two diesel options cover a 1.6-litre engine available in two power output versions of 108bhp and 133bhp.

Petrol engines include a new Kappa 1.4-litre 98bhp unit, which replaces the previous Gamma unit and brings lower fuel consumption of 50mpg and CO2 emissions of 129g/km CO2.

The line-up also includes a 1.6-litre 118bhp naturally aspirated engine and a new 1.6-litre 183bhp Turbo-GDI engine, intended to bring a more sporty focus. Available only on the five-door model, this unit gives a 0 to 62mph time of 8.0 seconds with a top speed of 136mph. The i30 Turbo is also fitted with sports suspension tuning, new 18-inch wheels and tyres and more direct steering (2.78 turns lock-to-lock) as well as bespoke interior and exterior design features including a new radiator grille, front LED design and twin exhausts.

Both 1.6 units are available with a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) that brings greater fuel efficiency along with increased acceleration.

Equipment additions include the Hyundai Land Departure Warning System (LDWS). Like all new Hyundai models, the new i30 is backed up by Hyundai’s Europe-only, Five Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty package.

The new i30 has been revealed as Hyundai confirms that it is dropping the Veloster in the UK three years after its launch, due to slow demand.
