Europcar has expanded its electric fleet with the addition of the GWM Ora Funky Cat.

The GWM Ora Funky Cat is now available to hire from 108 locations across the Europcar network

The company says it’s the first rental firm in the UK to take delivery of the fully electric family hatchback, which is now available to hire from 108 locations across the Europcar network.

The inaugural UK model from all-electric Chinese carmaker GWM Ora, the Funky Cat teams retro-futuristic styling, plush interior and a long list of onboard technologies. Its electric drivetrain features a 170hp motor that gives a 0-62mph time of 8.3 seconds, powered by a 48kWh battery that enables a WLTP range of 183 miles.

Europcar said that arrival of the Funky Cat on its fleet gives petrol and diesel drivers the chance to put to trial EV ownership as well as test-drive the vehicle itself.

“Making the switch from petrol or diesel to an electric car can be daunting, with uncertainty around battery range and charging infrastructure,” said Mark Newberry, Europcar Mobility Group UK commercial director and sustainability spokesperson. “We want to help drivers feel more informed and able to make that switch.”

Europcar operates a range of hybrid and electric cars and vans on its fleet, available for rentals from one day up to three months from locations around the UK.
