Electric vehicle battery life under focus in VRA seminar

Latest research into electric vehicle battery life is to come under the spotlight at the Vehicle Remarketing Association’s upcoming webinar.

The Faraday Institute will reveal its findings on EV battery degradation at the VRA seminar

Louis Piper, professor of battery innovation at the Faraday Institute, will present his organisation’s findings on EV battery degradation and how the results can be used extend battery life and EV range and reduce battery costs.

The VRA has also confirmed further speakers for the event, which will take place on Tuesday 21 November at The Slate, Warwick University, and will explore salient topics for the next year in remarketing.

Other speakers now named include Brian Steinhauser, CEO at PAVE, and Shane Ennis, co-founder and chief product officer at Sweep, who will jointly look at the potential role of artificial intelligence in used vehicle appraisal.

Steve Bridge, managing director at eStar, will examine the emerging picture for used electric vans, while Graeme Potts, CEO, Eden Motor Group will speak on the future for franchised dealers.

Finally, Matt Freeman, consulting specialist at Cap HPI, will present his organisation’s latest research on EV volumes entering the used market, and Nick Chadaway, managing director at DMN Logistics, will explain the importance of delivering EVs fully charged.

Speakers already named include Graeme Chaplin, the Bank of England’s agent for the West Midlands, who will present on the UK’s economic outlook for next year, while Abdul Chowdhury, head of vehicle policy at Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, looking at the latest developments in the EV regulatory framework.

Philip Nothard, chair at the VRA, said: “This is, we believe, perhaps the best speaker line-up of any motor industry event being held this year, with a mix of well-known, high-profile individuals from within remarketing and some names that will be new to most people in the sector but promise to give very interesting presentations.

“The format of the seminar is that each will deliver short but highly informative sessions, and we believe that delegates will receive a very comprehensive and useful briefing on what they can expect from the used car and van sector in 2024.”
