A new dashcam interface developed by FleetCheck for its fleet management software could bring considerable benefits for fleets as video footage becomes more widely used.

Introduced as more businesses turn to dashcams, in particular van and truck fleets, the  development has a wide variety of uses such as allowing video of an accident to be linked to an incident report or to help prevent various scams designed to allow fraudulent accident claims to be made.

Peter Golding, managing director, said: “One of the key purposes of fleet management software is being able to keep all the information that you need in one place in a structured fashion, so the new interface that we have created is very important.

“For example, being able to open a report on an accident and examine the video taken can have a direct influence on how the user progresses with claims, repairs and other actions. It is extremely useful.”

Golding added that video, especially when it is geostamped, provides excellent evidence in terms of all kinds of fleet actions.

“We tend to think of dashcams and accidents but there are a multitude of other applications,” he continued. “For example, you could ask a driver to provide video evidence of a walkaround vehicle inspection on their smartphone or a garage to e-mail video showing that a particular repair is needed. The potential is considerable.”

The dashcam interface is now available to all FleetCheck users free of charge.
