Dacia Spring electric hatch priced from just £14,995

The upcoming Dacia Spring is officially the UK’s most affordable EV with confirmation of pricing from £14,995 OTR.

The five-door Spring will arrive in the UK in October

Already Europe’s cheapest all-electric car, it’s now arriving in the UK and costs thousands of pounds less than its nearest rival, helping drivers to make the switch to electric. Not only that, it’s actually one of the UK’s top 10 most affordable cars, regardless of powertrain.

Expected to be hotly in demand, the five-door supermini is available to pre-order now and will arrive in the UK in October.

A rebadged version of Renault’s China-made K-ZE electric crossover, it comes with a choice of powertrains, teaming up either a 45hp, or a more powerful 65hp motor, with a 26.8kWh battery, delivering up to 137 miles (WLTP mixed cycle).

The compact battery is able to charge from 20% to 100% on a domestic outlet in less than 11 hours, or in four hours on a 7kW wallbox.

It’s also available with a bi-directional charger V2L (vehicle-to-load) charger that enables customers to power external devices.

Two trims are available: Expression or Extreme grades. The entry-level Expression version is available with the Electric 45 or 65 powertrain and features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, height-adjustable three-spoke steering wheel, Media Control system with USB port, speed limiter, cruise control, steering wheel-mounted controls, central locking with remote control, electric front windows, rear parking sensors, 12V socket and manual air con, plus 15-inch wheels for the higher-power motor.

The Extreme trim, exclusively paired to the Electric 65 powertrain, adds copper interior and exterior finishes, electric mirrors and rear windows, the Media Nav Live multimedia system with 10-inch centre screen, two USB ports and wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the bi-directional charger.

Driver safety features include an advanced emergency braking system (with vehicle, pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcycle detection), traffic sign recognition with speed alert, rear park assist, emergency stop signal, lane change alert, lane keep assist and driver attention warning. The Spring also comes with a ‘My Safety’ button to give drivers rapid access to their preferred and personalised ADAS settings.

Dacia also promises best-in-class storage volume – including boot space of 308 litres, rising to 1,004 litres with the rear seats folded down. The cabin has nearly 31 litres of storage space, combined with Dacia’s YouClip system, which enables drivers to fix accessories such as a tablet stand in specific areas in the passenger compartment.

Pre-orders can be made with a £99 deposit, via www.dacia.co.uk, and customers get a complimentary £250 towards accessories, public charging, or a contribution for a home charger through Mobilize Power Solutions, also part of Renault Group.
