Confusion over latest AFR rates as HMRC rolls out new gov.uk website
Normally HMRC will update the AFR rate every three months, with the last update being made on 1st September 2014 and the next rates due on 1st December 2014. The usual site for this announcement is http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cars/advisory_fuel_current.htm but the website is still showing the rates from September.
However, as highlighted by Fleet Innovations, this time it appears there is a new web site for announcing the changes: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/advisory-fuel-rates/current-rates
Fleet World spoke to HMRC this morning who confirmed that www.gov.uk is the correct site to use going forwards and added that all the guidance previously held on hmrc.gov.uk will move to gov.uk also.
However, as HMRC has been given feedback that the new site is not so easy to navigate, it is advising fleet managers to contact them using their already established contact points if they cannot find the information they are looking for.
HMRC also confirmed that the latest AFR figures are the ones displayed on the gov.uk website.
The new AFR figures (old ones in brackets) are:
