Brake launches fundraising challenge for Road Safety Week

Brake is running a fundraiser for this November’s Road Safety Week to increase awareness of the fact that five people die on UK roads every day.

The #Brake5 Challenge will raise awareness of the fact that five people die on UK roads every day

Its #Brake5 Challenge asks participants to take on a challenge based around the number 5, helping to raise money for Brake’s work campaigning for safer streets and supporting families affected by road crashes.

Fundraisers can create their own active challenge centred around the number 5 – running, walking or cycling any distance from five to 555 miles, depending on their abilities and their ambitions.

It’s aimed across the road user spectrum, including fleet professionals and people who drive for work, local community groups, and individuals looking to make a difference to road safety, plus the police and other emergency services.

Those taking part are also encouraged to share a #Brake5 selfie on social media using #Brake5 and #RoadSafetyWeek – by taking a photo holding up the palm of their hand, where they can write messages including the name of a loved one that they are fundraising in memory of.

To take part in the #Brake5 challenge, sign up to Road Safety Week at www.brake.org.uk/Brake5.

Road Safety Week runs from 19-25 November 2023, starting on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Each day represents a different group or sector for road safety.

The theme this year is Let’s talk about SPEED. Sign up to access information and resources to take part at www.brake.org.uk/road-safety-week.
