BMW teases new i7 and 7 Series

BMW has given a sneak preview of the forthcoming i7 and 7 Series ahead of the official reveal on 20 April.

At its annual conference, the brand revealed images of the forthcoming 7 Series, which will include a fully electric version, bringing a rival to the Mercedes EQS and Tesla Model S. The most powerful model in the 7 Series line-up, the i7 will deliver 600hp and between 360 and 380 miles of range.

Frank Weber, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG for Development, said: “The new BMW 7 Series is absolutely trail-blazing in every respect. Like no other model, the BMW 7 Series stands for BMW’s innovative strength. The all-electric BMW i7 is also the most powerful BMW 7 Series. It combines the best driving experience with the ultimate digital experience. This makes it the ideal vehicle for forward-thinking, responsible decision-makers and avant-garde pioneers.”

Initial details published by BMW highlight the technology features, a new front-end design based on hallmark BMW design features and a claimed unique interior experience focused on exclusive materials along with digital features.

The cabin will include the latest generation of the iDrive operating system and new My Modes functionality that enable the driver to customise the car’s driving characteristics and interior ambience.

The dash will feature the BMW Curved Display, already seen on the iX, while rear passengers will be treated to the BMW Theatre Screen, which folds out of the roof liner and provides a 31-inch screen with 32:9 panoramic display format and 8K streaming resolution.

The interior also features a new Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof and an ‘Interaction Bar’ as part of the ambient lighting.

Further details, including powertrains, will be revealed when the next-generation 7 Series is revealed next month.
