Allstar and Co Charger team up to bring ‘near-home’ charging to UK fleets

Allstar, the EV, fuel and business expense payment specialist, is now offering a ‘near-home’ charging solution in partnership with the Co Charger community charging platform.

The alliance delivers an alternative near-home EV charging solution for fleets, making 6,000+ home charging locations available so that Allstar customers unable to install their own devices can charge conveniently and at lower cost.

Launched in November 2020, Co Charger’s community charging scheme (see profile here) enables motorists with EV chargers to rent them out to neighbours without driveways or living in flats, helping them run an electric vehicle without being solely dependent on public charging.

According to Co Charger, around half of motorists live in places where having a home charger is not viable. But, as reported by Allstar’s most recent AllCosts report, home charging is still significantly cheaper than public charging.

The Co Charger platform has more than 6,000 ‘hosts’ – people who have signed up to the platform to enable drivers to charge their vehicle using their charger at home – and that number continues to grow.

The partnership with Allstar marks a major new chapter for Co Charger to help the UK’s largest fleets take a smarter, scalable approach to electrification, cutting downtime, improving productivity and lowering operational costs.

The new community charging solution joins Allstar’s existing offering, spanning fuel, electric charging, home charging and more, supporting fleets at every stage of transition.

Allstar’s fleet customers will be able to access these near-home locations, in addition to its electric charging payment network for businesses, which encompasses more than 24,000 locations nationwide. The network includes more than 65,000 chargers, and growing, while 85% is fast, rapid or ultra-rapid.

Tom Rowlands, managing director of global EV solutions at Corpay, including UK brand Allstar, said: “By partnering exclusively with Co Charger, we’re able to offer our customers an alternative to charging on the public network or at their homes. In particular, this will benefit those that aren’t able to install their own charger such as those living in apartment buildings or without a driveway, all while reducing costs and downtime for drivers. This is a further example of how we’re innovating with our partners to enhance our comprehensive solution to support businesses to manage costs, saving time and money.”

Joel Teague, CEO of Co Charger, added: “We’re proud to be partnering with Allstar to bring near-home EV charging to fleets across the UK. Public charging isn’t just expensive – it’s disruptive to operations. By enabling drivers to charge overnight, when they’re off duty, we’re helping fleets reduce costs, cut downtime and accelerate their shift to electric. This is the next chapter in the UK’s EV journey, and we’re excited to be leading it together.”
