2017 to bring improved utilisation of ‘big data’, says Chevin
Fleets will expand their utilisation of data to cover wider variety of both internal and externally generated sources over the coming year.
Chevin predicts that 2017 will see increased use of mobile devices within fleet management.
That’s the view of Chevin, which says that as a growing amount of data is generated from the continual development of mobile and automotive technologies such as telematics, autonomous vehicles and connected cars, more operators will recognise the potential of using new sources of data in their fleet management software to help streamline processes, improve efficiency and reduce expenditure.
Chevin also says ease of integration will also prove to be a key trend of 2017.
“With so much information potentially available – often coupled with stringent deadlines, administration or cost constraints – the process of integrating data from third-party applications and service providers into fleet management software should never be difficult or time-consuming,” explained Ashley Sowerby, Chevin managing director.
The company also predicts that 2017 will see increased use of mobile devices to help with management of operations and maintenance within fleets, and says smart phones and tablets can be effectively used as employee management tools if they are intelligently linked to a fleet management system.
