2016 DS 3 revealed

The brand said Britain is the leading market for DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio sales and the new models are expected to drive sales with the help of updated design features and technology and a revised engine line-up.

Under the changes, the range gains the brand’s latest front end with a new double wings logo debuting around the grille and LED/Xenon headlights while the existing floating roof, two-tone body/roof colours and the shark fins on the side have been retained.

Increased personalisation options including new choices for the roof, body, rear view mirror housings, dashboard and gear knob, and in total 78 body/roof colour combinations are available plus four fabric roofs for the DS 3 Cabrio.

UK engine line-up DS 3 will cover seven units, including three PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines plus two THP four-cylinder petrol units and two BlueHDi diesels.

The eco champion remains the BlueHDi 100 with CO2 emissions from 87g/km while overall range emissions stand at a maximum of 129g/km .

New additions include the EAT6 latest-generation automatic gearbox, which is married up to the PureTech110 S&S three-cylinder petrol engine and brings a combined cycle fuel consumption of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 105g/km for the hatchback and the Cabrio.

Also included a new PureTech 130 three-cylinder turbo petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This offers 128bhp and class-leading CO2 emissions of 105g/km with combined-cycle fuel consumption of 62.8mpg.

The line-up also gains a new “DS 3 Performance” model developed by the DS Performance team and combining a new 205bhp 1.6 THP S&S engine with a six-speed manual gearbox with shorter gear ratios. DS 3 Performance versions also come, as standard, with a Torsen limited slip differential as well as suspension lowered by 15mm and wider front and rear tracks and bespoke interior and exterior styling.

Inside, the DS gains a new 7-inch colour touchscreen with Mirror Screen functionality, comprising Apple CarPlay or MirrorLink for Android phones. This can also be used to listen to and send text messages hands-free from behind the wheel using Android smartphones compatible with MirrorLink.

Drivers can also access the free “MyDS” app informing them of their servicing schedule, fuel economy and parking location. MyDS is available for Android and iOS.

New equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera with visual indicator guidelines on a 7-inch screen and Hill Start Assist (manual gearbox only).

Pricing details will be revealed closer to its launch.
